ENDURANCE

STORY

After enduring the pack ice for 281 days, the Endurance sank on November 21, 1915 – the struggle for survival began.

On Elephant Island, the wind howled, the sea pushed between ice floes. When Ernest Shackleton went for help, Frank Wild kept the men together.

In the overturned lifeboats, used for shelter, only fire, fat, and patience mattered. The basecamp knife was always ready: robust, hand-forged, and with a secure grip. It provided food – because every calorie counted.

"As long as we have fire, some fat, and a good knife, we'll make it through."

In the evenings, the blade was sharpened by the light of the blubber lamp – a simple comfort.

Every morning, Wild would say, "Boys, maybe Shackleton will come today."

The knife lay ready – and with work, hope remained.

One of the most impressive survival stories.
